Confirmation Class

  • Trinity Anglican Church 2811 North 17th Street Tampa, FL, 33605 United States (map)

What is confirmation?

Confirmation is the laying on of the bishop’s hands with prayer for strengthening by the Holy Spirit, following a period of catechetical formation. In confirmation, I make a mature confes- sion of faith, publicly renewing the vows and promises made at my Baptism. (To Be a Christian: An Anglican Catechism)

In confirmation, baptized Christians, both children and adults are led through a period of teaching, formation, and prayer known as catechesis. This is a time for deep discipleship, and mature reflection on what it means to be a Christian. At the end of that time, the bishop lays hands on those who’ve completed the process confirming that they are making a mature commitment to Jesus, that they have claimed the faith for themselves, and praying that the Holy Spirit would empower them for ministry in the kingdom.

If you would like to be confirmed, then we invite you to sign up for our confirmation class which will meet on Wednesdays at 7 PM beginning June 11th and culminate with a day retreat at Saint Leo’s Abbey in Dade City on a date TBD where we will worship, pray, and celebrate the grace of God in each of our journey’s of faith.

This is a substantial commitment, please prayerfully consider if you are able to participate before signing up.
